“Lost in the City”. From the ‘Writing In and Beyond the City’ symposium, comes this essay written by Carlos Gamerro in English. “Lost in the City” ranges from the difference between magical realism and the Argentine fantastic and how Brazilian slums are different to Argentine ones, to writers’ changing strategies to understanding the city (the flaneur, the detective) and how lifts have stopped blocks of flats being literary microcosms of society. He also touches on the different strategies of mapping and invention that he employed in El secreto y las voces (An Open Secret) and La Aventura de los bustos de Eva (The Adventure of the Busts of Eva Perón). http://iwp.uiowa.edu/projects/SoukUkaz/2009articles/Gamerro_LostinCity.pdf
